Never underestimate “girl power” or should we say don’t mess with the women in country music. Consultant Keith Hill, told Nashville trade publication Country Aircheck that programmers should “take females out” if they want ratings on country radio.
There are a two female artist in country music that have taken issue to that statement, Martina McBride took to her Facebook page and shared this comment.

“Trust me, I play great female records and we’ve got some right now; they’re just not the lettuce in our salad,” Keith Hill told Aircheck. “The lettuce is Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and artists like that. The tomatoes of our salad are the females.”
There seems to be a recent trend in country music to play only “bro-country,” songs sung by male artists that are primarily about trucks, girls and partying.
