Fairview’s season came to an end with a 41-17 loss at Pearl Cohn in the quarterfinal round of the TSSAA playoffs on Friday evening.
Darius James and Corbin Hughes scored Fairview’s touchdowns. The Yellowjackets trailed by three at the end of the third quarter, but couldn’t close.
Fairview ends its season at 9-4. It was the last high school game for James, who was one of the mid-state’s top running backs this seaosn.
A James 5-yard touchdown run with 8:49 left before half helped Fairview tie the score at seven after Jeff Perez kicked the extra point.
Perez added a field goal with 7:17 left before half.
Pearl Cohn led 20-10 at the break, but the Yellowjackets cut the lead to three when Kam Harris-Lusk hit Hughes with a touchdown pass midway through the third quarter.
But the Firebirds, now 11-2, scored 21 unanswered in the fourth quarter.
