Puckett’s Boathouse Offers “Uncorked” Series in May

Puckett’s Boat House will once again shine a light on its popular wine bar through the seasonal “Uncorked” series of monthly events focusing on informative topics, food pairings and all things wine-related. The first event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Certified Sommelier Brad Lentz will lead “Understanding the Wine Lifestyle: Wine 101,” an introductory course that highlights the basics but promises to be entertaining for wine lovers of all levels of interest.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to combine my love for wine and the community by creating experiences that are fun and educational for everybody, no matter what their preference or taste,” said Lentz, who also serves as a manager at Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant in downtown Franklin. “All of us will get something different out of a sample from the same bottle of wine, and that’s what intrigues me.”

Guests can expect to learn about a number of wines while snacking on Boat House bites, including flavors that are most common of each varietal, which foods best complement them, how different wines should be stored before and after opening and more. Puckett’s Boat House has once again partnered with Moon Wine & Spirits so that patrons can easily find their favorite selections from “Uncorked” and enjoy them at home.

Now in its second year, the event’s inspiration began in 2014 when the Southern eatery transformed its “Bait Shop” into a space offering an extensive list of hard-to-find wines and boutique spirits.

“The Boat House’s wine bar has only gotten better with time, and this series just enhances the overall experience,” Lentz said. “There are very few instances in life where wine doesn’t fit, and we want to encourage the community to try something new, expand their knowledge and take advantage of this top-notch resource that’s right here in downtown Franklin.”

“Uncorked” will take place on the third Tuesday of each month through the summer and fall, each focusing on a unique theme ranging from varietals and regions to seasonal food pairings. Participants will leave with tasting notes from both the sommelier and the chef, along with a discount coupon to Moon Wine & Spirits. Tickets are $30, and include four wine tastings in addition to appetizer specials. Buy tickets at eventbrite.com.

Puckett’s Boat House is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. To learn more, visit puckettsboathouse.com.
