The biggest developer in Middle Tennessee just added another project to its portfolio.
Highwoods Properties recently paid $9 million for 13.76 acres at 5501 Virginia Way, across from Brentwood Academy and adjacent to the Tractor Supply Corporation headquarters.
The developer, which will have nearly 1 million square feet of office space in the region, plans a 218,000 square foot office complex for the site, with construction possibly starting by the end of 2016.
With room for up to 900 people to work- and park- Highwood told the Nashville Business Journal it hopes to open by mid-2018.
Hastings Architecture was picked to design the two-building, $65 million development, with a contractor yet to be announced.
Rents are expected to go for around $30 per square foot, as Class A office space availability in Brentwood and the county at large is in the low single digits.
Highwoods has 850,000 square feet of office space and more than $300 million worth of construction currently, with the crown jewel being the 30-story Nashville Bridgestone Americas Inc. headquarters in downtown Nashville.
It also owns half of the huge Ovation development in Cool Springs.
