Class A/AA Basketball Wrapup – 2/9/15

District 11

Grace Christian Lions – Since their loss to district leading Mt. Pleasant, the Lions have reeled off four straight victories over Hampshire, Richland, Lancaster Christian, and Cornersville. During the win streak, Grace Christian has outscored their opponents 70-36. The win over Cornersville wrapped up the district season, where the Lions finished 8-5, good for third place in Class A District 11. GCA has one remaining game during the regular season against Community.

Against Community, the GCA girls will look to finish their first TSSAA season on a high note. The young Lady Lions have struggled with size and experience and are currently winless on the season.

Fairview Yellow Jackets – District 11-AA play for the Yellow Jackets has had its struggles for Fairview. The Jackets have one win on the season and are winless in district play. Fairview will try to finish strongly against district opponent Lewis County and non-district foe Santa Fe.

The Lady Jackets have won four of their last five matchups, with wins over Camden Central, Nashville Christian, East Hickman, and Waverly Central. The Fairview girls are 9-14, 7-8 in district play. The Lady Jackets can finish anywhere from 4th to 6th in the district heading into postseason play.

District 12

Page Patriots – During the end of their season, Page dropped contests to CPA, Giles County, Marshall County, and Cascade, before finishing the regular season with a win over AAA county opponent Ravenwood. The Page boys finished 11-12, 4-6 in District 12-AA. The Patriots finished 5th in their district.

The Lady Patriots beat Marshall County and Cascade in district play and fell to CPA, Giles County, and Ravenwood. The Lady Patriots finish their season against Cannon County. Page’s final district record was 4-6, tied for 3rd in the region.

Spring Hill Raiders – District play has proven unkind to the Raiders, who finished district play 0-10. Spring Hill has dropped 12 straight contests, but look to get momentum at the end of the season against non-district opponents Columbia Academy and Loretto.

The Lady Raiders finished the season with wins over Marshall County and Mt. Pleasant and losses to Giles County, Cascade, and CPA. Spring Hill finished tied for 3rd in the District 12-AA with a 4-6 district record.

CPA Lions – The Lions have won of 7 of their last 8 games with wins over Page, Cascade, Spring Hill, and Ensworth, and the only loss coming to J.O. Johnson out of Alabama. CPA currently sits at 16-8, 8-0 in district play. The Lions look to wrap up an undefeated district season against Giles County and Marshall County, having already sewn up the District 12-AA championship.

Since their loss to Brentwood Academy at the Above the Rim tournament, the Lady Lions have won 10 straight games. Currently 18-4, 8-0 in district play, the Lady Lions must beat Giles County to clinch the district championship. The CPA ladies also face Marshall County this week.
