Pharmacy Tech Course at Columbia State

The Center for Workforce Development is offering the “Pharmacy Technician Program” at Columbia State Community College’s Columbia Campus beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Classes will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 – 9:30 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 10. The comprehensive 50-hour program prepares students to work as a pharmacy technician in retail or other pharmacy settings and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s national exam.

Working in pharmacies under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician’s main responsibility is filling prescriptions according to doctors’ orders and preparing medications for dispensing to patients.

The cost for this course is $1,099 and includes textbooks. Registration closes Thursday, Oct. 15 and limited seats are available.
