Pet Rescue of the Week Contest

This week, instead of sharing an adoptable pet from the Williamson County Animal Center, we want to hear your adoption story! Did your pet come into your life in a special way? How has having an adopted pet changed your life? We love hearing these stories and seeing photos of your pet at home. Please send your story and a photo with the subject “My cat/dog adoption story” to [email protected].

The 20 most compelling dog stories and 10 most compelling cat tales will get photo shoots with Penny Adams Photography (dogs) or Boudoir Kitty-Cat Photography (Angela Disrud). The deadline is May 30. Follow us on Facebook for results, which will be announced after Memorial Day. Winning photos may be featured in our adoption rooms at the shelter.

Here’s one of our favorite pet adoption stories:

Meet Rhonda. Rhonda is a Blue Heeler who came into the shelter with two torn ACLs and a little extra weight. When she needed a foster, Mary and Lanny Simmons came to the rescue! Through surgeries and physical therapy, the Simmons’ fostered Rhonda for almost a year. When the time came that she was healthy enough to be adopted, the Simmons’ couldn’t see Rhonda living with any other family! They officially adopted her in April!
