I love a meaningful sentence. Sentences have power. They can hurt or heal. They can make this look like that. They can muddy the water or they can bring clarity. Spoken sentences are important for good relationships with ourselves and with others.
Consider four sentences that need to be in our regular vocabulary.
1. I love you.
2. I forgive you.
3. I understand.
4. The meal is ready.
I list number four because it is at the table that we participate in the most relational conversation. The table is the best place to say the first three sentences.
On Communion Sunday the pastor says, “the meal is ready”. As we take Christ into ourselves Jesus says, “I love you, I forgive you, I understand”. Since we all have feet of clay these are important sentences, very important sentences.
