Spooks and Coupes UpdatedWilliamson County Parks and Recreation will present a new community Halloween event called ‘Spooks and Coupes’ on Saturday, October 18 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. This brand new format will feature over 30 classic cars (coupes) with trunks full of treats! Families and kids alike are encouraged to wear their costumes as they trick-or-treat along the trail behind the recreation center. Then, visit with favorite Disney villains in the Haunted Forest, or make something ghoulish in the Halloween craft tent. There will be free entertainment throughout the evening, free face painting plus fun inflatables! If you get hungry, delicious food truck concessions will be for sale (add’l cost).

Spooks & Coupes is one night only, Saturday, October 18 and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This family event is open to the public, and admission is $6 per person (cash). REGISTER NOW FOR WINTER TENNIS CLINICS
Eight-week indoor program or four-week outdoor clinics

The Athletics Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration now for session I of the eight-week winter 2014 tennis clinic program at the Indoor Sports Complex (ISC), 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood and a set of four-week outdoor clinics at Crockett Park, 1500 Volunteer Pkwy. Clinics start the week of October 20. Adult and junior clinics in beginner through advanced skill levels will be offered Monday(s) through Saturday(s). The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department has immediate openings for part-time lifeguards at its indoor pools in Franklin, Brentwood and Spring Hill. Schedules are flexible, and wages are competitive. Early morning, mid-day afternoon and evening hours are available. Anyone age 15 or older may apply.

December 4-7: A Christmas Story-The Musical
The Star Bright Players Children’s Theatre presents a delightful family version of “A Christmas Story-The Musical” – a Tony-award nominated musical based on the classic 1983 holiday film and the book by Joseph Robinette. Set in 1940s Indiana, it tells the story of 9-year-old Ralphie, who dreams of getting a red Ryder BB-gun for Christmas. The Star Bright Players presentation is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois. Performances of “A Christmas Story-The Musical” are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and December 4, 5 and 6 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. All performances will be at Freedom Middle School, 750 Highway 96 West in Franklin. Parents are invited to bring kids ages 10 and younger, to have cookies and milk while listening to Santa read a holiday story, Friday, December 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.! Come dressed in PJs. After story time, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and give their Christmas wish list. Parents are FREE and the fee for children is only $6.00 each. December 6: Breakfast with Santa at the Franklin Recreation Complex
Share breakfast with Santa and his helpers at the Franklin Recreation Complex. This will be an “Adventure in Candyland” for children 10 and younger, along with their parents. After a delicious breakfast, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and give him their Christmas wish list. Parents, don’t forget your cameras – we will have several photo opportunities. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for you and your child to spend time together with Santa Claus.
