WCPR Fall Break Camps

Keep the kids busy over Fall break with camps and activities at Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) facilities.

October 10: RoboThink: “Capture the Flag” Robotics Camp – Build and design a car robot that you can use to battle your friends. The first one to capture the flag wins! Learn how to use RoboThink’s innovative robotics pieces, motors, switches, axles, and gears to build your robot and play games with your friends! Our lesson plans are built around RoboThink’s proprietary kits, plans, and STEM curriculum, designed by teachers and engineers. This workshop is interactive, hands-on, and engaging to promote learning in a fun way. No prior experience required. Camp will meet on Thursday October 10 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.; from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd.; and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. Cost is $35. $5 Discount for 2 or more participants. October 10 or 11: Acrylic Painting on Canvas – Scarecrow – Come paint a scarecrow with instructor Elaine Sligh. The image will already be sketched onto an 8×10 canvas, ready to paint with acrylics. The instructor will teach all of the brushstrokes needed to complete the project, and the child will take home their canvas at the end of the class. Class will meet on Thursday, October 10 and/or Friday, October 11 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Cost for either class is $20, plus a $5 supply fee (cash or check payable to Elaine Sligh) to be paid to the instructor on the day of class. October 10 & 11: Parker Anderson Enrichment Cooking Camp – One of WCPR’s most popular camps! Kids will tantalize their taste buds and have fun with food! Different recipes will be used — from appetizers to entrees, snacks, desserts and more. Learn about nutrition, dining etiquette, and cooperation skills in this scrumptious class. Camp will meet on Thursday and Friday, October 10 and 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Cost is $50. October 10 & 11: Minecraft Camp – Learn about and play the most popular computer game on the planet. Learn Minecraft building techniques, details of command blocks, and how to change the look of the game. Kids learn strategy, team-building, and cooperation skills while playing Minecraft in a fun, safe, and supervised environment. Laptops provided. Camp will meet on Thursday and Friday, October 10 and 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Cost is $40. October 10 & 11: Stop Motion Animation Camp – Have a blast with Stop Motion Animation using clay, Legos, whiteboards, cutouts, and more! Storyboard ideas, develop plots, and create unique characters as you bring inanimate objects to life. Each student receives a copy of the collaborative class work at the end of the session. Tablets provided. Camp will meet on Thursday and Friday, October 10 and 11 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Cost is $40.
