At last week’s Williamson County Jamboree, Page coach Charles Rathbone talked about how transfer defensive back Michael Burdick had dominated his team’s preseason scrimmages.
Burdick carried that over to his regular-season debut in the Battle of 840 on Friday.
Burdick had a pair of interception returns for touchdowns, as the Patriots won at Fairview, 28-14, in their season opener.
His second pick-six of the evening came with 2:45 left, virtually icing the game for the Patriots.
The other came on an 85-yard interception return just before half.
Page running back Bubba Johnson tied the score at seven with a five-yard scoring run.
Fairview quarterback Kam Harris-Lusk set up Trey Bell’s first-quarter touchdown run to give Fairview a 14-7 lead.
Page quarterback Jacob Van Landingham hit Will Pierce with a 15-yard, tying touchdown pass with 6:26 left in the second quarter.
Burdick’s first score put the Patriots up at half.
Page (1-0) has its home opener vs. Nolensville next week.
