Page Volleyball Standout Heading To International Tourney

College Grove’s Molly Locke, a former volleyball standout at Page High, was named to the Bring It Promotions All-Star Team, traveling to Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia. In Croatia, the BIP All-Stars will participate in the European Global Challenge tournament.

Locke, a senior outside hitter for Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, helped lead the Eagles to one of their best seasons in school history and brought home a boatload of personal accolades. Locke was named Division II Outside Hitter of the Year by Hero Sports, as well as leading the South Atlantic Conference with three conference player of the week honors. She was also named to the All-South Atlantic Conference and All-Southeast Regional Tournament teams. Locke would end up leading Carson-Newman to their first ever Southeast Regional championship.

According to the BIP website, the European Global Challenge tournament has grown from a small tournament in Salt Lake City into a 32-team invitational tournament featuring the top U17 and U22 divisional teams from around the world. The Croatian seaside town of Pula has hosted the junior national teams from Russia, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Denmark, as well as club teams from Romania, Germany, and Puerto Rico and collegiate and all-star teams from the United States. The 12th annual European Global Challenge takes place from July 5-14 this summer.

At Page, Locke led the Lady Patriots to back-to-back state championships in 2010 & 2011. She was named tournament MVP both years. Other awards at Page included 2011 Midstate Player of the Year, District 12-AA and Region 6-AA MVP.
