We said goodbye to 2015 and have ushered in a New Year. As we take stock of this past year’s news, we remember some pretty incredible stories. We wanted to share with you some of our favorite, uplifting stories.
In no particular order:
1. Franklin Teen Job Shadows Jimmy Fallon
We’ll never forget Andrew Kombucha, a Senior at Franklin High School. Andrew’s dream was to job shadow Jimmy Fallon for Senior Shadow Day. His friends started a Twitter campaign using the #AndrewShadowJimmy and soon the entire community rallied behind him. It caught the attention producers of The Tonight Show and just a few days later, Andrew was on his way to New York.
2. Silicon Valley Taps Brentwood Student for Lead Engineer Position
Hearing how crazy talented our local teens are never gets old. While most 16-year-olds think about what type of car they want to drive, 16-year-old Tejas Manohar thinks about his work with a Silicon Valley company.
3. Brentwood Firefigher Rescues Bison Attack Victim
Brentwood firefighter Jay Williams was off duty and on a trip to Catalina Island when he was at the right place to help a man attacked by a bison. Williams and two others were heralded as heroes for their life saving efforts.
4. Kelsea Ballerini Makes Video at Alma Mater
Country singer Kelsea Ballerini has had an incredible year. For starters, she was nominated for a CMA, she performed on stage with Taylor Swift and she helped Music City ring in the New Year at the Bash on Broadway. And now, we get to look back and say ‘remember when she made a music video at Centennial High School!’
5. ‘I Wanna Go to Chick-Fil-A’ Viral Video
Who can forget The Texting Yoga Pants (a group of local moms) and their parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About that Bass.” If you missed it, ‘I Wanna Go to Chick Fil-A’ is all about moms needing a break and their love (and their children’s) love for Chick Fil-A. The Texting Yoga Pants just recently made another video called “Pay You More.” Watch it here.
