On Sunday August 5th at 2 P.M. in the O’More College of Design Pavilion you will have the opportunity to experience the country of Chile. The Passport to the World Speaker Series is presented by Sister Cities of Franklin and Williamson County Tennessee, Inc., as part of their mission to build global relationships, share cultural and educational experiences and inspire growth in the community.

O’More Presents Passport Speaker Series
Attendees will get a taste of the Chilean culinary delights and receive information about exports from the country including wine, fruit and seafood. An exhibit will be displayed of copper, ceramics, books, photographs, videos, leather, clothing and textiles. Chile is a tri-continental country because its borders include South America, Antarctica and Oceania, which includes Easter Island.

There are three speakers for the event. Franklin resident, Cecilia Melo-Romie, was born in San Javier, Linares, in central Chile. She is part of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center multicultural team and an entrepreneur. Marlene Vergara was born in Temuco in southern Chile. She works for FSSD as a pre-k social worker. Rosario Langlois is the director of Outreach Programs for First Steps Inc., and is from Puerto Monitt in southern Chile. All three of these speakers will share their knowledge and love of Chile with you.
Parking on campus is free so come take a load off and enjoy learning about the demographics, politics and religion of Chile. Find out about Chilean traditions, folklore and the dance of “La Cueca.” This unique look into Chile is sponsored by Sister Cities, O’More College and the Williamson County Library.
