OBITUARY: William J. “Bill” Beavers

William J. Bill Beavers

William Julian “Bill” Beavers, age 83 of Franklin, TN, most devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2019.

Bill was born in Preston, GA, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1986 after 21 years of honorable service. His last position with the FBI was Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Memphis, TN office.

An avid University of Alabama football fan, he loved to play golf and was a former member of Brentwood Country Club. He was also an Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin.

He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Paul David Beavers; parents, Luther and Kathleen Beavers; sister, Louene Vila and brother, Benny Beavers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Beavers of Franklin, TN; his sons, Dr. Mark (Carol) Beavers of Dacula, GA and Mike (Dr. Kathy) Beavers of Bartlett, TN and his two grandsons; James and Michael Beavers; brother, Bobby (Verlin) Beavers of Phenix City, AL and other loving family members.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, with Rev. Chris Joiner officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will be at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will consist of Elders from The First Presbyterian Church of Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be other Elders as well as Retired Agents with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Franklin; Meals on Wheels or The Don Birdwell Scholarship Fund at Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN. Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday, July 5, at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 615-794-2289 williamsonmemorial.com.

  1. Jean so sad to hear if Bill’s passing. He was a good man and a friend. We were classmates at the FBI academy. I also crossed paths with him in San Francisco.
