Querido Castillo

Querido Castillo, age 87, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on November 8, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Carlos and Guadalupe Castillo; his in-laws Rev. E.B. and Gladys Scott; siblings Carlos and Omega Litton.  He is survived by his wife Jean; his children Deborah (Jerry) Lloyd, David (Debbie) and Victor; his grandchildren Matthew, Jonathan, Scott and Cristine Lloyd and Michael Castillo.

After serving in the Army during the Korean war, Querido earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1958 and had a successful career with the Federal Highway administration, the country of Kuwait, and the state of Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), skiing, camping, teaching Sunday school, and traveling.  After retirement, he volunteered for church mission trips to Honduras and hurricane/tornado relief. He will be fondly remembered for his optimism, his warm smile, his humor and laughter, kindness towards others and his Christian faith.

His funeral service will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Honduras Missions Fund at Brentwood UMC or the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
