Martha was born in Meigs County and lived in Harriman for most of her childhood. She married R.C. in 1965 and Michelle was born in 1967. Martha and R.C. moved to Nashville in 1970 and were married for nearly 40 years. Her family was everything to her. Martha was known for her green thumb, her quick wit and all things Southern, especially sweet iced tea. She enjoyed reading, favoring stories about the south and historical fiction. Southern Living magazine was always on her coffee table. Martha was a servant of the Lord, living her life in support of others – both family and strangers. Her ministry to others was evident in her volunteer work at her church through the Room In the Inn program, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and assisting in the church office. Martha enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble with her family and friends. She loved the Christian hymns, I’ll Fly Away and For All the Saints. Martha will be greatly missed and her family looks forward to being reunited in Heaven.

Martha was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church on Franklin Pike. A memorial service will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
