OBITUARY: Marseille Gering

Marseille Gering

Marseille Althaus Gering, resident of Franklin, Tennessee, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 13 at her residence, at the age of 97 years.

Marseille was born in Louisville on December 15, 1921. She lived a full life. She loved to travel, and visited countries all over the world. Her mind was kept sharp to the very end, as she loved to play bridge with friends, and never missed a day of the crossword puzzle. She kept her body fit, with her passion for dancing, which she did in to her 90s. But more than ever, her faith in Jesus never wavered. It was that faith that kept her strong until the end.

She will be sadly missed by her son, John Gering and her daughter-in-law, Sue; her two granddaughters, Meg (Nick) Wadlington, Dallas, TX and Sarah Gering, Spring Hill, TN; three great granddaughters, Lilly Wadlington (7), Annabelle Gering (3) and Madelyn Grace Gering (2 weeks).

Marseille was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; two brothers, Earl and Chester Althaus and sister, Mary Louise Panke.

Her celebration of life will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 18th with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218. Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip Catholic Church, 113 2nd Ave S, Franklin, TN 37064.
