Joyce Irene Maxwell, age 79 of Madison, TN passed away December 8, 2017.
She was born in Rutherford County, TN. She graduated from College Grove High School in 1956 and completed Nursing Technician Training at Vanderbilt Hospital in 1957 where she worked for six years. She later worked for Dr. Dewey Nemec at Miller Medical Clinic for over 19 years and other pediatricians in the Nashville area for another eight years.
After she retired from nursing, she enjoyed working for the TSA at the Nashville International Airport and T.J. Maxx in Brentwood. She also had a booth at the Tennessee Antique Mall.
Preceded in death by mother and step father, Joe and Edna Davenport; father, Walter Thomas Maxwell, Jr.; uncles, Clifford and Marvin Maxwell and James Gilbert; aunts, Louise Maxwell and Esther Westmoreland; nephews, James O. “Jimmy” Pierce, Jr. and Robert Wayne Maxwell. Survived by: sisters, Kathryn (Charles) McCreary and Shirley (Alan) Clark; brother, Walter (Brenda) Maxwell; nieces, Kathy (Bill) Borie, Jennifer Pierce and Kathleen (James) Steward; nephews, Darrin (Cynthia) Puckett and Bradley (Elaine) Clark; special friends, John Brannon and Rachel Brannon.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Paul Gunn officiating. Interment College Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
