OBITUARY: James Tommy “Lightnin” Smithson

James Tommy Lightnin Smithson

James Tommy “Lightnin” Smithson, age 72 of Thompson Station, TN passed away at his residence on June 19, 2019. Born in Williamson County, Tommy was a member of the Church of Christ Faith and he was a veteran of the U. S. Marines serving in Vietnam. Tommy loved reading, music, but most of all talking and debating.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew Smithson and Corinne Lofton Smithson, mother-in-law, Reba Church Schmidt. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Schmidt Smithson, children, Amber and Wes Gomes, Allison Smithson, and Jamie Smithson, sister, Pam Parker, father-in -law, Robert Schmidt, brothers-in-law, John Schmidt and wife Susan, Joe Schmidt and wife Donna, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and the many children he loved thru Thompsons Station Childcare.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00PM Monday June 24, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Ed Slayton officiating. Visitation with the family will be 4-8pm on Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Burwood Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Jonathan Schmidt, John Schmidt, Jason Donoho, Coy Bean, Wes Gomes, Wes Logan, Adam Parker, Jeremy Parker. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Schmidt, Robert “Stretch” Hester, Eddie Chunn, Bobby Hood, Billy Speck, James Lofton, Gene King, David Skidmore, The Breakfast Club, Tuesday Morning Bible Class, and Nieces.
