Mr. James Wayne “Heavy” Lanius, age 48, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence.
Heavy was above all a loving husband, father and best friend to his wife and sons. He was born on March 9, 1968 in Maury County to James William and Doris Fay Attkisson Lanius. He was a hard-working man, having owned Heavy’s Fast Lane in the past and working as a machinist for UCAR to provide for his family. He loved playing softball and was an avid outdoorsman, being an avid rabbit hunter. He liked to say that he was a jack of all trades, master of none. He was a member of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Cherishing his memory are his loving wife: Michele Odom Lanius of nearly 31 years, of Mt. Pleasant; sons: William “Will” T. Lanius and Wyatt Park Lanius of Mt. Pleasant; beloved daughter-in-love: Britta Boshers Lanius; second mother sent by God: Ella Stanfill Lanius; siblings: Diane Long, Tommy (Rhonda) Stanfill, David Stanfill, Carl Lanius and Phyllis Gilbert’ special cousins: Doris Lanius, Connie Beckwith, numerous nieces and nephews; and special nephew: Tommy Michael Stanfill. He was preceded in death by his parents: James William Lanius and Doris Faye Attkisson Lanius; and his sister: Diane Lanius.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Heavy will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Tommy Stanfill, Tommy Michael Stanfill, Robbie Ingrum, Ricky Boshers, David Smith and Little David Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Stanfill, Doris Lanius, Donny Boshers, George Thorne, Woody and Donna Kay Lyles, Randall Pruitt and Steve Pruitt.
