Howard Green Smithson, age 82 of Rudderville Community, TN passed away on October 6, 2021.
Mr. Smithson was born in Pulaski, TN on March 29, 1939 to the late Howard P. and Doris Cook Smithson. He graduated from Battle Ground Academy in 1957 and received his Bachelors Degree from Vanderbilt University in 1961. He operated Smithson Dairy and was District Manager for Vermeer Haying Equipment. He was a member of Church of the City. He was married to Patricia Fay Allen Smithson in October 1976.
He is survived by his loving wife and other loving family members. He faithfully served his community as a member of Farm Bureau and was commissioner for Milcrofton Utility District where he served as President of the Board of Directors since May, 1993.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ed Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Monarch, P.O. My wife and I are sadden to see of Mr. Howard Green’s passing. He was a great neighbor and friend. Many a time stopped by the store his parents ran in Rudderville. I had bought equipment from his when he was a Vermeer dealer. Prayers to his wife and family.
I, Mike Hudgins was fortunate to be co-student with Howard. When our football coach came to our 5th grade asking if we, the students, wanted to go out for football. No quicker could I run over to Howard asking if he was going out football. When he said, “Yes, I am Mike.” Well, guess what, led by Howard I also when out for football. Anyone who knew Howard knew a Prince of goodness, a social scholar, and never heard Howard say one single word which made another look bad.
When I die, I wish to be where Howard is, to think like Howard thinks, and be like “Howard, when you see me leaning on the “up” button would you please say something good to the big man in the clouds about Mike Hudgins.

Howard, my English turned out a little bad when I re look at it. I think all your friends know what I’m try to say; friends like Bob Napier. Larry Stumb, Britt Knox, Sir Richard Ashworth, and anyone else who knows-new you Mr. Howard Green Smithson.
