George English Oldham IV, 47, passed away unexpectedly in Nashville, Tennessee, August 19, 2019.

Surviving family members include his wife, Colleen Haskins Oldham, son, Patrick M. Oldham and daughter, Anna K. Oldham, of Brentwood, Tennessee; his parents Claire T. and George E. “Skip” Oldham III of Johnson City, Tennessee; sisters, Julia O. Vargo and husband Steven T., Patricia C. Oldham and husband Walter E. Hopkins, of Johnson City.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Charles D. Vargo, Bennett O. Vargo, Jackson T. Vargo, Julia-Claire O. Hopkins, and Sarah-Katharine O. Hopkins; and Aunt Katharine “Kitty” Oldham Young of Greeneville, South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by grandparents Doris B. and Jackson Trethaway of Kingston, Pennsylvania, and Anna Katharine L. and George Oldham, Jr. of Johnson City, Tennessee, and uncles Jackson Trethaway, Jr. and Marion J. Young.

Mr. Oldham graduated with honors from Science Hill High School, Johnson City, and received his B.S. in Economics from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, where he also was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.  After college, he moved to St. Louis where he worked in the insurance industry, launching his passion for sales.  He joined the Polymedco team and discovered his enthusiasm for medical-related sales, which he combined with his interest in cutting edge technologies and medical advances.  Joining Neurometrix brought him back to Tennessee.  Shortly thereafter, he took a position with Intuitive Surgical where he honed his skills in clinical sales and training for eleven years, building longstanding relationships with colleagues, physicians, surgical professionals, and many others in the hospital and medical fields.  Most recently, he was a member of the NeoTract consulting team in Nashville, Tennessee.  He became a staple in the Nashville medical device community.

George committed fully and deeply to whatever he did; seeking personal excellence and always challenging himself and coaching others toward their best, also. He swiftly achieved the Boy Scout rank of Eagle Scout by his sophomore year in high school. He perfected his German to fluency during his time spent with family friends in Berlin.  Friendships were considered a commitment kept.  Yet, his role of husband and father was his most important accomplishment and deepest passion, as he planned memorable family trips, cheered his children on the sidelines at lacrosse and football games, and spent time with Colleen creating family traditions that will last generations.

The family will receive friends at a visitation held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road, Brentwood, Tennessee.  Funeral Mass will be conducted at Noon on Saturday, August 24, 2019, also at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Friends will gather at the church following the service.  A private interment will be held at a later date.
