George C. Gatterer, age 93 of Spring Hill, TN went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2019.
George was born in New Albany, IN to the late George Charles Gatterer and Mary Catherine Biggs Gatterer. He later moved and spent most of his life in Oakland Park, FL where he retired after 27 years from the Broward County Building and Zoning Department as a Land Use Administrator. Eventually moving to Spring Hill, TN George and his wife Joanne are members of the Catholic Church of the Nativity. George had a passion for flying and was an excellent pilot who served in the Civil Air Patrol. He was also a talented artist. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Joanne Gatterer; son, Jim (Liz) Gatterer; grandchildren, Cadie, George and Clay Gatterer.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Catholic Church of the Nativity. Visitation will be held from 5-8PM on Thursday at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church. Entombment will follow in the Spring Hill Memorial Park Evergreen Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Catholic Church of the Nativity.
