OBITUARY: Emma L. Ingram

Emma Ingram

Emma L. Ingram, known as Granny by all, age 79, long time resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Emma was born April 9, 1937 in Lawrence County, TN, the daughter of the late David Monroe Lovett and Sadie Kimberly Lovett. She was the wife of the late James Walter Ingram. Emma was a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She loved Christmas and giving gifts. Emma worked with her husband selling scrap iron. She could often be found on the banks of the Tennessee River fishing or enjoying a John Wayne or Roy Rogers film. Emma was a woman of great faith and despite becoming weak was at church to worship every chance she had. She loved quilting and embroidery. She made sure each grandchild received a personalized gift once married and also her great grandchildren received a blanket of their very own. Emma was a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce (Anthony) Howell and Kathy Elkins; son-in-law, Randy Kersey; siblings, Mary Violet Gardner, Joe Amos Lovett and Leo Lovett and Mark Smith; grandchildren, C.J. (Cortany) Kersey, Marlinia (Joe) Rhodes, Maria (J.D.) Buckner, Rodney (Lindsey) Howell, Caleb (Heather) Kersey, Josh (Lindsey) Howell, Will (Sarah) Kersey and April Ellen Henson; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mary-Emma, James David, Carson, Jude, Harper, Lily, Cullen, Sam, Consie and Ruth Catherine, along with a special nephew, Eugene Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by three children, Monroe Ingram, Jane Ingram and Tina Kersey; great-granddaughter, Penelope Kersey; siblings, Pearlie Hicks, Elick Lovett, Edward Lovett, Earl Lovett, David Lovett, Albert Lovett, Mack Lovett and Essie Smith.

Funeral services for Granny will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop and Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Hill Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Howell, C.J. Kersey, Rodney Howell, Caleb Kersey, Josh Howell, Will Kersey, Joe Rhodes, J.D. Buckner and Eugene Smith.
