Dr. H. Alex Brown, Jr., age 56 of Franklin, TN. passed away with his family by his side July 25, 2017.
Dr. Brown received his PhD from University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, Post-doctoral fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, then began his research group at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in 1996.
He joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in 2002. He was the Bixler-Johnson-Mayers Professor of Pharmacology and Biochemistry and interim Director of the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology.
Alex is survived by his wife; Dr. Renee Brown; son, Kyle Brown; daughter, Lindsey Brown and brother Rev. Joe Reggin of Florida. He is preceded in death by his father, Hugh Alexander Brown and mother Anne Barnes Brown of Cocoa, Florida.
Memorial services will be held at St Andrew Lutheran Church, 908 Murfreesboro Road, Franklin, TN 37064 on Friday July 28, 2017 at 4:00 with visitation at 3:00 pm.
