Diane Maxine Thorne

Diane Grammer Thorne, age 69, passed away Saturday April 7th, 2017 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. A member of the Nashville area for over 40 years, Diane left an indelible impression in the business community, with her church family and with her friends and family. Professionally, Diane spent nearly four decades working in the transportation industry. Her career included working for the McWhorter administration at TDOT, being a valued member of Mayor Bill Purcell’s staff, and the most recently with the wonderful people at the TMA Group in Franklin, TN. Diane’s contributions can be seen throughout the middle Tennessee. The Shelby Street Bridge, the Downtown Library and the Music City Star are just a few of the projects that are testaments to the contributions she made in her professional life. A member of the Downtown Nashville Rotary Club, a board member and fundraiser for the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition and graduate of Leadership Middle Tennessee are just a few of the many activities that Diane dedicated her time to outside of work and family.

Diane, however, shined her brightest as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay and Maxine Rhodes Grammer, and husband, Robert Conlee Thorne. She is survived by sons Daniel (Mary Scott) Thorne, Joshua Thorne, and Paul (fiancé Shannon Justice) Thorne, as well as her grandchildren, Robert Conlee Thorne II, Mary Maxent Thorne, and brother, Michael (Terri) Grammer.

A Celebration of Life for Diane will be held 1:00PM Saturday April 14, 2018 at the Brentwood Baptist Church (Baskin Chapel) with visitation from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Memorials in memory of Diane may be made to Sweet Sleep, P.O. Box 40486 Nashville, TN 37204.
