Billy Don Giddens

Billy Don Giddens, age 86 of Franklin, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior April 28, 2019.

Born in Mt. Vernon, TX and true Texan, he graduated from Mt. Vernon High School early. He received his Bachelors’ Degree from East Texas State University. He served in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He married the love of his life, Joanne Ashford in January,1960.

Bill worked with NASA as an Aerospace Technician then on to Xerox Computer Systems. He moved to middle Tennessee in 1973 and then became the first Director of Budget and Purchasing with Williamson County Government. He was active in the community and was a member of Franklin Noon Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also elected to the Middle Tennessee Electric Board. Active member of Franklin First United Methodist Church and a member of NOMADS (a mission active in divine service providing volunteer labor for United Methodist organizations).

He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboy fan, loved camping and a handyman to anyone who had a need. Bill had a sweet smile and kind spirit that will missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by parents, Reuben and Lillie Weatherford Giddens; brothers, Robert and Milton Giddens. Survived by: wife of 59 years, Joanne Giddens of Franklin, TN; sons, William Donald “Don” (Diane) Giddens of the Bethesda Community, TN, Robert Edward (Viki) Giddens of Bedford, TX and Alan Daniel Giddens of Franklin, TN; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Reynolds of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Kelsey Evelyn Giddens, Heather Ashford Giddens, Lauren Ashton Reynolds and Janna Rae Giddens.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Rev. Dr. Bryan Brooks, Rev. Dr. Lynn Hill and Rev. Dr. Vona Wilson officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Rex Giddens, Terry Giddens, Michael Morgan, Jim Ward, Richie Woodroof and Robert Ashford. Honorary pallbearers will be Rachel Bond, Dr. Tom “T.K.” Jones, Leonard Jones, Kearney and Norma McNeil, Jim and Shirley Neil, Bob Ring, Jo Ward, members of the Koinonia UMC Sunday School Class, the Franklin Noon Rotary Club and friends known as the “Battle Crew”.
