Noodles & Company to Close Locations

Noodles & Company has announced via their website  that they plan to close approximately 55 underperforming company-owned restaurants, to eliminate the negative cash flow of these restaurants and improve overall performance.

“Today we announced important initiatives that we believe are critical to the long -term success of Noodles & Company. These initiatives focus on our strong go-forward restaurant portfolio, shore up our balance sheet and give us the financial flexibility to further our in-restaurant operational and culinary initiatives,” said Dave Boennighausen, Chief Financial Officer and interim Chief Executive Officer of Noodles & Company.

Noodles & Company hasn’t revealed which locations will be closing, but there is one location in Franklin located at 995 Meridian Drive.

Recently, the company has changed the menu and customers have taken to Facebook to voice their opinion on the change.

“It’s  kind of sad that you guys stopped serving old dishes. The Pad Thai was my regular that I always went to, now I don’t go anymore because of the new stuff…,” writes a customer of the Cool Springs location.

In the preliminary financial report, the company projects “a system-wide decrease in comparable restaurant sales of 1.3 percent, including a 1.8 percent decline at company-owned restaurants and a 2 percent increase at franchised locations.”

Closures are expected to take place in the first and second quarters.
