Nolensville Student Spreads Holiday Joy With Stocking Drive

Nathan Keaton

Nathan Keaton is like any other middle schooler – he likes football, Xbox, enjoying the outdoors but he also wants to spread joy this holiday season. That’s why Nathan is collecting Christmas stockings this holiday season.

The Mill Creek Middle School student had the idea of giving a gift to those who might not receive one this year. We spoke to Nathan and his mother, Jennifer who shared why Nathan wanted to start a stocking drive.

“This whole idea started after he witnessed individuals not having warm blankets and this year he wanted to do more so we thought about a list of items that everyone could use but also may not have. The stocking packing is because Nathan believes everyone should have a present at Christmas,” said Jennifer Keaton.

Nathan added, “It’s all about showing people kindness and treating them with respect.”

Once all of the stockings have been collected Nathan will take them to the local Room in the Inn programs. It’s the giving part that makes Nathan excited. “My favorite part is talking to people and seeing the smiles,” he said.

This is not the first time that Nathan has collected items for Room in the Inn. While most think of the winter as the time to give, Nathan found a way to give back in the summer as well.

Nathan collected 3,000 freeze pops during the summer and with the help of his mom, Kona Ice shaved ice truck went to Room in the Inn to offer more cool treats.
