Thirteen years after starting the boys and girls soccer programs at Siegel High in Murfreesboro, Eric Shelton is coming to Williamson County to start the soccer program at the new Nolensville High School.

In his time with the Stars, Shelton turned Siegel into Rutherford County’s premier girl’s prep soccer program. With a record of 181-74-29, the Stars won six regular season District 7-AAA crowns, seven district tournament titles, and eight Region 4-AAA championships. During that time, Siegel won the 2008 AAA girl’s state championship and were runners up in 2012. Shelton also served as boy’s coach from 2003-2011 before stepping down to focus on the girls’ team and his family.

“For most coaches, starting a program is once in a lifetime thing,” Shelton said. “When I first started looking into it, that’s the only situation I’d leave Siegel for – to get to start a program and put my fingerprint on it. That was definitely a pulling factor.”

Also announced were the new girls’ basketball coach Chris Ladd, who has coached at Page and Summit, and new baseball coach Zach Hudson, who is currently an assistant at Summit. Shelton, Ladd, and Hudson join Ashley Sarmiento, former Ravenwood assistant volleyball coach, softball coach Shelby Crawford, former Ravenwood wrestling coach Josh Peck, and athletic director and football coach Will Hester.
