Three Nolensville High culinary arts students are learning real life skills through their work with the Nolensville Farmer’s Market.

Wesley Baucom, Addie Grace Butera and Jade Reasoner used their skills in the kitchen to cook, plate and serve a farm-to-table dinner at the market on August 3. The students worked under the supervision of Nolensville High College, Career and Technical Education teacher Lyndsey Weatherford and catering chef Brandon Hardin from Fireflour Bakery.

The culinary students will continue their work with the market throughout the semester. Right now, they’re using fresh ingredients from market vendors to make homemade salsa to sell at the market. During the fall they will use pumpkins from 6R Farms to make pumpkin bread.

“Some of my students desire to go into the culinary field,” Weatherford said. “Some want to study hospitality management. Some take the class because they like to cook and eat. My goal is that everyone will learn life skills like knowing how to meal plan and cook for themselves and their families.”
