Farmers and craft-makers will be setting up shop in Nolensville next to the new recreation center on Saturday, May 2 for the first Nolensville Farmers Market of 2015.

The Nolensville Farmers Market had its beginnings last year once a local doctor, Miro Bandalo, wanted his patients to have more local food options. This year over 30 vendors selling things from fresh produce to candles will set up from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday until October at 7248 Nolensville Rd.

Educational classes will also be offered at the Farmers Market starting May 23rd with TSU educator George Smith, who holds a PhD in Landscape Architecture, and holistic health coach Amy Shalray. Topics will be on things such as building a rain garden, soil quality, cooking with kids, healthy meal planning, and flood plains.

Classes are free and there will be two opportunities to attend a class for each Saturday, one at 9:30 a.m. and one at 10:30 a.m. The Nolnesville Farmers Market is hoping to find leaders for classes about canning, building a rain barrel, raising backyard chickens and building a raised bed garden.
