The Nolensville Band has accepted an invitation to march in the prestigious Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day parade March 2019 and they are working to raise the funds to attend. Over 100 students will show their commitment by holding the first ever Nolensville Band ROCKATHON on Friday, December 14 at Nolensville High School. They will be taking over the Auxiliary gym and setting up rocking chairs of all kinds, where they will rock all night long. The students will be soliciting pledge donations for every hour they rock in order to help fund their trip.

The night of the event, from 7:00pm-9:00pm, there will be an Open House for all who would like to come see first-hand the students rocking to raise money for their trip. Each of these students is committed to showing the world how far they will go to make this trip a reality.

The cost to send the group to Chicago for this event is approximately $90,000 and the students have already raised almost half that amount. However, they need your help. The band students are asking the town and community to join them to make trip this possible.

Televised live, the parade has viewership of over 1.1 million viewers.

Benjamin Easley, the founding Band Director explained, “We are incredibly proud of the growth, progress, and investment of our Nolensville Band students from the program’s small start just two years ago. While we still have significant needs ahead and must continue fundraising toward securing essential instruments and equipment, we are honored to accept this opportunity to travel and perform so that all of our student members, especially our first senior class, may enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

“I could not be prouder of the Nolensville Band and all they have accomplished in just two short years,” said Mayor Jimmy Alexander. “The students and instructors have shown remarkable talent, spirit, and commitment, and they are exceptional representatives of the Town of Nolensville. I look forward to supporting the Rockathon and to watching the Nolensville Band march in Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day parade this coming March.”

“Nolensville Band is very fortunate to be a part of such a strong community—from the students and staff at the school, to the local neighborhoods and the Town of Nolensville itself,” said Michael Holland, Associate Band Director. “It really is a remarkable combination of good will, enthusiastic support, and a strong sense of community. The students are honored and excited to represent the Town of Nolensville and the state of Tennessee in Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
