Brunch lovers rejoice—all-day breakfast restaurant Ruby Sunshine will open in downtown Franklin at 231 Public Square in early 2019. The latest concept from Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, the collective behind the acclaimed New Orleans-based eatery Ruby Slipper Café, Ruby Sunshine will offer Big Easy twists on Southern brunch classics, including benedicts, pancakes, and French Toast, as well as eye-opening cocktails. Owned and operated by the Ruby Slipper Café founders, Ruby Sunshine in Franklin will mark the first of more locations to come across the Southeast.

“We’re excited to introduce the Franklin community to Ruby Sunshine and the New Orleans flair that our restaurants are known for,” said owner Jennifer Weishaupt. “We’re focused on expanding throughout the region and feel that the charming downtown Franklin area will be a perfect fit for our brand of Southern hospitality.”

The 4,300-square-foot restaurant will provide a vibrant and inviting atmosphere with a mix of bar, booth and table seating for up to 159 guests. The location will also feature a patio area and private event space.

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Inspired by the powerful sense of homecoming they felt when they returned to New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina, husband and wife duo Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt opened the original Ruby Slipper Café in an effort to help draw people back to their Mid-City New Orleans neighborhood. Born from that cozy storefront in 2008, Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group has grown to operate 10 Ruby Slipper Café locations across the Gulf Region and will expand throughout the Southeast with Ruby Sunshine, providing new audiences with the unique flavors and hospitality that Ruby Slipper Café is known and loved for.

BREAKFAST STAPLES WITH A BIG EASY TWIST

Guests can expect all-day brunch and eye-opening cocktails served at Ruby Sunshine seven days a week. The menu will echo the one at Ruby Slipper Café, featuring award-winning New Orleans twists on Southern breakfast staples like BBQ Shrimp & Grits, Eggs Cochon Benedict and Bananas Foster Pain Perdu, as well as morning time cocktails like the Brandy Milk Punch, Morning Margarita, Mimosas and, of course, their award winning Bloody Marys. Ruby Sunshine incorporates fresh and local ingredients in its inspired menu whenever possible and is looking forward to partnering with local purveyors in Tennessee.

ABOUT RUBY SLIPPER RESTAURANT GROUP

Ruby Slipper Café and Ruby Sunshine restaurants bring the unique flavors and hospitality of New Orleans to breakfast and brunch. Founded in post-Katrina New Orleans, Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt turned a blighted corner store into a cozy restaurant, with the hope that it would help draw people back to the Mid-City community. The Ruby Slipper Café was an instant hit, becoming a sought out destination among both locals and visitors to the city. In the decade since opening that neighborhood storefront, Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group has become one of the fastest growing concepts in the Southern United States. The group has grown to operate two brands with eleven restaurants. Both Ruby Slipper Café and Ruby Sunshine remain owned and operated by the original founders. They serve all-day brunch and eye-opening cocktails seven days a week.
