NFL Preseason Power Rankings: No. 32-21

Do you hear that? The NFL season is right at our door-step once again. Put on your favorite jersey, claim your spot on the couch and stock up on snacks because it’s time to see who will rise, and fall, on their way to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona for the 2014-15 NFL season.

Listed below are pre-preseason rankings of your favorite teams, starting at the bottom. Yes since the preseason is only a day old, time will tell, teams will move and soon we will see who can become contenders, or pretenders. And who doesn’t love early power rankings?

Before the reigning-champion Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers kick off the regular season on Sept. 4, check up on how the league looks after an eventful offseason. Click here to continue on with rankings 20-11 and the top 10.

32. Oakland Raiders

In an arm-wrestling match for the last spot with Jacksonville, the Raiders sink to the bottom on the sheer agony that is their 2014-15 schedules and mess of a roster. The trouble begins September 21 at New England, and then a series of brutal matchups at Seattle, Denver, at San Diego, Kansas City, at St. Louis, San Francisco, at Kansas City and then two weeks later, at Denver. DOOM. To top that off, Oakland is filled with new guys at a lot of positions and chemistry is going to be trouble. Big key is whether or not they gambled right and got a better Matt Schaub, not 2013 Matt Schaub. There’s no hope for Oakland this year.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars

They got the hometown quarterback Blake Boles in the draft; shiny new stadium video screens that make Jerry Jones jealous, along with hot tubs to attract fans and sell tickets. Life for the Jaguars is getting a little better. Emphasis on the little. This season will rest on the progress of Boles, solely if he can make the transition to be a franchise quarterback, and that comes with pressure. Jacksonville is not even looking to fight for a division title; it’s all about finding where everyone fits.

30. Cleveland Browns

I don’t need to tell you that the NFL and Browns’ fans will have their eyes locked on Johnny Manziel and what he can produce. Browns fans will be praying that at least for once, their quarterback can actually produce something and not turn out to be just another bust. His size and off-field antics are what worry me the most. Aside from having the best-selling jersey right now, don’t expect anything encouraging to come out of Cleveland. LeBron James is busy doing that over at Quicken Loans Arena.

29. Buffalo Bills

The Bills are relying on quarterback E.J. Manuel to get them out of the AFC East basement and that league-worst offense isn’t helping. But with Miami being the second-best team in that division and those seasonal two dates with Mr. Tom Brady and Co., it’ll be another cold winter in Buffalo.

28. Minnesota Vikings

Now it’s the perfect time for Teddy Bridgewater to show, if at all, he was meant to be a top-pick. And will age finally start to catch up with Adrian Peterson?

27. Washington Redskins

I hope Robert Griffin III can rebound from an awful year, more importantly, stay healthy. New head coach Jay Gruden and his staff will need time to get their feet wet, but this year should be slightly better than whatever sideshow they were doing last season.

26. Tennessee Titans

I hate to think that the Titans’ season rests in the hands of (a healthy) Jake Locker, because other than him, they don’t have anyone else that can really carry them past an 8-8 record. With their former star Chris Johnson up north with the Jets, the Titans will need Locker to be at his absolute best in order to make noise. Am I wrong? Follow our Titans page during the season with recap, Sports Source and other Titans news.

25. New York Jets

I was convinced that Rex Ryan had seen his last days in New York but the Jets still kept him around and gave him Michael Vick, Chris Johnson and Eric Decker, while letting Mark Sanchez hit the road. I’m betting on another season turning into yet another circus, with numerous trips in SportsCenter’s “Not Top Ten” segments.

24. Houston Texans

A team with J.J. Watt, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster and Jadeveon Clowney sounds nice enough, but not great. Consider that the top quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick only suggests the offense will struggle while defensively, Houston shouldn’t be bad. The Texans went from back-to-back AFC South champions to a shocking 2-14 collapse and they will need time to rebuild. Things are looking up though.

23. Dallas Cowboys

A bold move to send NFC Championship Game tickets to your season-ticket holders before the first snap of preseason, but that stinky defense has got to do a better job keeping Tony Romo standing up rather than hitting the floor. Dallas isn’t going to win the NFC East as long as the Eagles are starting to soar, so those NFC Champ tickets are bound to be collector’s items.

22. Miami Dolphins

With the Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito locker room scandal behind them, now Miami can focus their attention on postseason play, something they haven’t seen since 2008.

21. New York Giants

Remember when the Giants started 0-6 last year, thought the world was going to end, and then mustered an 7-3 record the rest of the way? Surprisingly too, they have had a solid offseason, gaining 15 veteran players and adding experience on the field. The Giants will be that team again this season that will win and won’t look sexy doing it, but it somehow it gets the job done. I’ll still give Philadelphia the NFC East banner.
