New Youth Theatre Program Presents Cheaper by the Dozen

Cheaper by the Dozen

The first production by Straight to the Stars, the newest addition to Williamson County Parks & Recreation’s family of award-winning youth theatre options, will be Cheaper by the Dozen, a delightful family comedy. Performances will be Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday August 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 112 Everbright Ave, Franklin, TN. This Christopher Sergel adaption of the book by Frank B Gilbreth Jr. and Earnestine Gilbreth Carey is based on the true story of the Gilbreth family. The Gilbreth’s inventor father, who was well-known for bringing better efficiency to factories, keeps his family of twelve children running just as efficiently, and the results of being part of the grand experiment are terribly embarrassing, funny and extremely effective!

Tickets are $10 each and available at https://academyparktn.wcparksandrec.com/tickets_and_events/index.php.

Straight to the Stars is a Youth Theatre group for high school aged actors producing straight (non-musical) plays.

Directing this first Straight to the Stars production will be Annie Rice, a Williamson County native. She was Fairview High School’s theater director for five years and helped open Summit High School as their theater director eight years ago. Over the years, she has appeared on stage around town at Towne Centre Theatre, Pull-Tight Theatre, and Old School Theatre as an actress and has directed well over 30 plays and musicals since her college days at Lipscomb University.
