New Year, New Head of School at BGA Middle

Battle Ground Academy has named Patrick Snead as Head of Middle School effective July 1, 2018, announced Will Kesler, Head of School.

Snead joins the Franklin-based independent school after serving the past 12 years at Athens Academy in Athens, Ga., most recently as Middle School Dean of Students.

“We are delighted to have Patrick and his family join BGA. After an extensive search process, Patrick’s fit for our school became clear. His educational philosophy, experience, and expertise all align with our mission and values as a school. He understands what makes a school like Battle Ground Academy special and will help to keep our middle school true to its foundations while challenging us to grow and expand our program with innovation and creativity,” said Kesler.

Prior to Athens Academy, Snead served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles since 1995. His experience includes serving as a history instructor and coach at Christ School in Arden, NC; Middle School Head, teacher and coach at Hammond School in Columbia, SC; and Lower School Intern and coach at The Potomac School in McLean, Va.

Snead is a graduate of the University of the South and received his Masters in Victorian Studies from Keele University in Staffordshire, England. He also has an International Teachers Certificate from the University of Cambridge External Examinations; a Photography Certificate from the University of Georgia; and has studied at the University of Saint Andrews.
