The Spring Hill Planning Commission in its work session reviewed plans for a proposed hair salon.

The salon, according to plans submitted to the city by Wilson & Associates, would be at 1101 School Street, near the future location of Spring Hill Bakery and the Spring Hill Antique Mall. The location is also right across the street from the Kissing House, home of the new I Love Juice Bar.

Specifically, the site of the property is located at the corner of School Street and Mclemore Avenue  Existing structures on the site include a single-family house– out of which the applicant wil operate a hair salon in the house. A paved parking area with 12 spaces has already been installed on the site.

A few issues, according to the staff report, came up with the plan. Planners are concerned that the parking will not be sufficient for the business, at just 12 spaces, some of which are in the publicly owned right-of-way.

Aside from that, the applicant must pass a review by the Historic Commission.

Also, it must gain an exception from the Board of Zoning Appeals, because its plans to not include a code-required 15-foot landscaping buffer between the parking area and the right-of-way.

Decisions on those issues are scheduled to come down in February.

After that, the plan could expect full go-ahead from the planning commission.
