New Pure Barre Location Opening in Westhaven

Pure Barre

Westhaven resident, Jessica Lewis is bringing her love of Pure Barre to her own neighborhood. Vanderbilt Alumni, Lewis transplanted from Los Angeles calling the South home after graduating and then completing graduate school in D.C. Her husband, Hi is also a graduate of Vanderbilt University.

When we asked Lewis what she enjoyed the most about living in Westhaven, she said:

Pure Barre Westhaven “From the moment we moved to Westhaven, we felt ‘at home’ and so did our kids. I remember feeling so anxious when we were getting ready to move, knowing the decision had so many implications for lifelong friends we would have and our kids would have; schools they would attend; activities they would have access to; and professional decisions. At the time, I was very pregnant with our 4th kid. Before we knew we were moving, I remember laying in bed each night with my oldest son and saying a prayer that we would trust God to put us exactly where we needed to be, surrounded by the people we need to be surrounded by. WOW! Did those prayers get answered here at Westhaven. My kids, husband, and I feel so blessed … and I don’t mean that lightly. I’ve seen my kids blossom, my husband and I are blessed to have amazing families with which we can grow and raise our children in a strong community, and we have also found ways to hopefully bless back the community. ”

As to why Lewis chose to open a Pure Barre in Westhaven, she again mentions community.

“As owner of Pure Barre Westhaven, my goal is to bring to individuals the same strength of body, mind, and community that I have found at other studios. Yes, Pure Barre is an amazing physical workout … I have truthfully never been as strong (yet in a lean way) as I am now in my adult life, and that’s after having 4 kids. I truly credit the Pure Barre technique. But, possibly more important than that has been the sense of resolve that I get out of pushing through each class and how that’s carried over into my general attitude toward life. Pure Barre helped me rediscover that resilient, persistent, and – yes – competitive side of me that I started to lose a bit of when in the midst of growing a family. Pure Barre also became a safe place for me – my escape, my sacred space – when facing other challenges (whether it be uncertainty about career, my mom’s fight with cancer, and the other more trivial ups and downs that come day-to-day). I truly want Pure Barre Westhaven to be that same sacred space to others, where women (and men) can come for strong bodies, minds, and community.”

In addition to building community, Lewis intends to give back to the community through programs available in the Westhaven community. Pure Barre Westhaven has just begun  a #PBWhavenMakeAChange campaign in which they  work with a charity each quarter to highlight each charity cause. Since Pure Barre Westhaven is new, they have only been working with one charity so far – Project HEAL (#PBWhavenMakeAChange). In September, they plan to transition to a charity that focuses on cancer research and outreach in line with the Race for the Cure in Westhaven.

Currently, Pure Barre Westhaven is still under construction with an opening date planned for later in August.  Thanks so much to Jessica Lewis for taking time out to talk with us about the new location.  Follow Pure Barre Westhaven on Facebook for the latest updates.
