New Music Friday May 10

This week’s new music features Gladys Knight who will be in Nashville this weekend. Then keep scrolling for a new unreleased song by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Dustin Lynch, Diplo featuring Cam, our new summer song, and John Paul White from The Civil Wars.

1. Boy George, Gladys Knight on Culture Club’s  – “Runaway Train”

Gladys Knight lend her voice to a new version of Culture Club’s “Runaway Train” recently released. Knight also received her first CMT Music Awards nomination this week for Performance of the Year at the CMT Artist of the Year Event. Knight performed “Help Me Through the Night” with the women of Little Big Town.  If you want to see Knight perform live, she will be at The Ryman on Saturday night, find one of  the few remaining tickets here. 

2. Diplo featuring Cam – “So Long”

Thomas Wesley, the new country project from Diplo, premieres the video for first track “So Long” – Directed by frequent collaborator Brandon Dermer (What Would Diplo Do?, “Look Back,” Major Lazer’s “Scare Me”), the new video stars Diplo at his first-of-its-kind Stagecoach set and Nashville’s Cam who features on the track, as well as cameos from Lil Nas X, Billy Ray CyrusSam HuntGuy Fieri and Dwight Yoakam. “So Long” is one of several forthcoming collaborations with country artists, a first for Diplo.

3. Dustin Lynch- “Ridin Roads”

Dustin Lynch has released the technicolor, easy-going music video for current chart-runner “Ridin’ Roads,” available on all digital streaming platforms now.

“Ridin’ Roads” is the lead single from his newly released EP of the same name, which includes two other fresh tracks, “Little Town Livin’” and “Red Dirt, Blue Eyes.” Listen to RIDIN’ ROADSEP

4. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – “For Real”

The video for “For Real,” the latest previously unreleased single to debut from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, just premeried. The loving video was directed by Tom’s daughter, Adria Petty, and features archival footage and photos as well as intimate, behind-the-scenes moments of Tom and the band. Throughout his storied career, Petty did everything with authenticity—putting the music and his fans first. It is this sentiment that he sings about in the poignant and autobiographical song “For Real.”

5. John Paul White – “The Hurting Kind”

John Paul White is set to continue his North American tour in support of his new solo album The Hurting Kind with a stop in Nashville on June 1. The Hurting Kind was recorded at Sun Drop Sound, White’s new home studio that he converted from an old, turn-of-the-century home in the historic district of Florence, AL, and at legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL.
