New Music Friday March 8

Today is National Women’s Day and in honor of female artists, we are bringing you new music from several female artists. Take a listen, you might find something new or a new song from one of your favorite artist.

1. Sarah Potenza Road to Rome

Sarah Potenza, the outspoken and independent Nashville-based singer-songwriter and vocal powerhouse, is set to release her new LP this Friday, March 8th, on International Women’s Day.

Known as a semi-finalist on season 8 of The Voice, Sarah has since gone on to release a critically-acclaimed debut solo LP ‘Monster’ in 2016.’Road to Rome’ is an album of self-empowered R&B, swaggering soul, and contemporary blues. Co-written by Potenza, her husband Ian Crossman and friend Justin Wiseman, produced by Jordan Brooke Hamlin (Indigo Girls, Lucy Wainwright Roche), and recorded with a female-heavy cast of collaborators, the record isn’t just her own story. It’s the story of all artists — particularly women, who remain the minority within the male-dominated music industry — who’ve learned to trust their instincts, refusing to let mainstream trends dilute their own artistic statements.

2. Runaway June  “Buy My Own Drinks”

The Top 25 single “Buy My Own Drinks”  is off of the band’s self-titled debut EP and is available at all digital retailers and streaming services.

The video features vignettes of the Runaway June members individually, both in present day and “flashbacks” to their younger selves.

Co-written by Runaway June’s Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne along with Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear, listen to “Buy My Own Drinks” here.

Runaway June will be supporting Carrie Underwood as she launches a new arena tour, The Cry Pretty Tour 360, in spring. Sponsored by CALIA, the new tour will kick off on May 1 in Greensboro, NC, and will play 55 arenas across the U.S. and Canada and be promoted by AEG Presents.

3. Maddie & Tae “Tourist in this Town”

Maddie & Tae recently unveiled new song, “Tourist in this Town.”  Written by Maddie & Tae’s Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye with Barry Dean and Jimmy Robbins, the up-tempo “Tourist in this Town” finds the narrator having to rediscover her hometown after realizing all of her favorite local spots are now haunted by heartbreak.

Much to the delight of the fans, this marks the third song from the award-winning pair since signing with Mercury Nashville. “Tourist in this Town” follows digital release “Die From A Broken Heart” and current radio single “Friends Don’t.”

Maddie & Tae recently earned a Duo of the Year nomination for the upcoming 54th Academy of Country Music Awards making it their sixth career nomination from the ACM. Tune in April 7 for the broadcast live from Las Vegas on CBS at 8pm ET.

4. Bailey James “I Won’t Be Silent”

With the success of her current radio single, “Devil Won’t Take Me Down”, Bailey James urges listeners to take action in her anthemic new song, “I Won’t Be Silent.”

Before the loss of her brother to teen suicide, Bailey joined The Jason Foundation as the National Youth Advocate and since then, she has partnered up on multiple events with them to help raise awareness to the silent epidemic of youth suicide. With the newest campaign from The Jason Foundation, Bailey becomes the face of this movement with her original song “I Won’t Be Silent.”

The song, written by Bailey with Jeanie McQuinn, Julie Downs, and Steve O’Brien and produced by Jeffrey Teague and Jeremy Mayfield is available on all major streaming and digital retailers.

5. Lauren Duski Midwestern Girl

CMT’s Next Women of Country, Lauren Duski has just released  Midwestern Girl. Duski was the runner up on Season 12 of The Voice.

This past year she has released 2 singles from the EP. The inspiring debut single “Costume Party” has taken off and has inspired her fans to make these videos sharing their stories and vulnerability that brought Lauren to combine all the videos together to make the music video to the song.

She’s had incredible success America’s for an artist without a label or publisher in Nashville. Interesting fact about Duski, she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Spring of 2013 in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience, she put her plans of attending dental school aside. She spent a few months in Chicago after graduation with opportunities to record original and commercial material, but Nashville became home in early 2014.

6. Hailey Reinhart “Lo-Fi Soul”

Haley Reinhart has released a music video for “Lo-Fi Soul.” Comprised of snapshots of her life, the video reflects what the title track and album Lo-Fi Soul mean to Reinhart. “”Lo-fi reflects my analog heart, while the soul reveals untold stories I want you all to experience with me” she explains of her “old soul” approach to music. “I’ve been told I’m an old soul my whole life, and I feel like I’ve lived many,” Reinhart says. “You’ll find me floating through time with different genres and eras in my mind that taste all too familiar, like a fine red wine.”

Reinhart will be out on tour in support of the new album to be available later this month with a stop in Nashville on April, 11 at Mercy Lounge.

7. Kassi Ashton “Violins”

Kassi Ashton has released the new music video for her song “Violins.” A vibrant and entertaining reflection of the song’s empowering lyrics, the piece finds her shutting down an immature suitor amidst the fitting backdrop of a high school gymnasium. Kassi’s creative fingerprint extends beyond the music and into the choreography and fashion elements of the video as well. Throughout, she shows off skillful majorette dance routines and even dons various stylish band outfits that she hand-made herself.

“Violins,”  was produced by Luke Dick and Luke Laird, and co-written by Kassi, Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. The music video was shot in Nashville and marks Kassi’s first collaboration with director Kristin Barlowe.
