New Library, Police Headquarters Headed to Spring Hill

Plans for a new library and an extended Police Department are in the works for Spring Hill. Both have been long term goals of the city leadership.

On Monday night the Board of Mayor and Alderman saw, for the first time, resolutions allowing for the selection of architects for the projects.

“Our library has one of the highest circulations of any similar size library in the State of Tennessee,” the staff report on the resolution states. “Last year, more than 416,000 items were checked out. The demand of services by the citizens continues at a high rate. An expanded library facility would enhance greatly the ability of the citizens to satisfy their needs. The Spring Hill Rising study pointed to the need of a new library facility.”

The city narrowed firms down to three finalists from around the country. From those, HBM Architects of Cleveland, OH was selected as best qualified to provide the design and construction over vision in the development of a new public library facility for Spring Hill.

BOMA will vote in two weeks to confirm them as the firm to design the new library.

The project is expected to cost $10 million. The architecture firm will be paid between $900,000 and $1 million.

It will be built on the site of the current structure at 144 Kedron Parkway.

For a new police headquarters, which will be built next to city hall, Architect Design Group of Dallas was recommended out of four firms who put in bids.

  1. Seriously
Glad we will have a 10 million dollar Library and now a bike path on highway 31 instead of the obvious thing that must be done—-expanding the ROADS to get anywhere
