Franklin’s only independent, family-owned, full-service retail pharmacy – will celebrate its grand opening from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2.
The pharmacy, owned by Dr. Todd Garrett, a 2014 graduate of Lipscomb University’s College of Pharmacy, offers traditional pharmaceuticals, homeopathic remedies, local goods and gifts, and pharmaceutical compounding (beginning in spring 2018).
“The pharmacy profession has been stifled by chain pharmacies that have made the experience cold and impersonal,” Garrett said. “When you walk into our pharmacy, it feels warm and inviting because we care about your experience. We want to know your name and your family because we believe you deserve that level of customer service – but not at a higher cost than the big box stores offer.”
In addition to providing competitively priced prescriptions, Franklin Family Pharmacy is offering free monthly supplies of chewable children’s vitamins to Franklin children ages 4 to 12.
Parents wanting their children to be enrolled in the program can register to be a “Family Member” in the pharmacy’s free loyalty program in store or online at franklinfamilypharmacy.com. Customers can pick up their vitamins for the first time from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
“It’s a common misconception that independent pharmacies are more expensive,” Garrett said. “In reality, many of the big box stores offer free or low-cost generic drugs to get customers in the door, then charge significantly above wholesale cost for other drugs to help cover those margins. And that’s not good for the customer.”
Saturday’s grand opening event also includes free Stroud’s Barbeque for the first 100 customers, free cookies by Triple Crown Bakery, a Baumgartner Sound and Design pop-up shop, and giveaways from some of the 18-plus local artisans represented in the pharmacy’s gift store.
