New Basketball Coach Named at Brentwood High

Brentwood High School has named a new head basketball coach to replace Coach Dennis King. King who announced earlier this summer his retirement, held the position for many years and was a beloved member of the Bruins family.

Finding the right person to fill the vacant position was a top priority for both Brentwood High and Williamson County Schools. With a successful program, and future talent the search connected with the hiring of Greg Shirley.

Shirley, who’s spent the past five seasons coaching at Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., has been chosen as the Bruins’ new head coach. A lifelong resident of Orlando, Shirley leaves behind thirty years of service in his native town.

“We are excited for Coach Greg Shirley and anxious to get him in our school and start working with our young men. His record and reputation stands on its own and we will offer him all the support we can so he can continue his success at Brentwood high school,” Ron Seigenthaler, Brentwood High’s Athletic Director shared.

Shirley, 51, takes over a Brentwood program that’s coming off a narrow loss against Hamilton in the Class AAA state championship earlier this spring.

Bringing his experience to Brentwood, Shirley guided his former team to win two district titles and two division titles during his time with Boon. He has coached for 11 years and his record is 196-114.
