Navigating Franklin just got easier. The long held ban on U-turns in Franklin faded into history as of May 1st, 2012. It’s now legal to make a U-turn in the city, provided the standard “No U-turn” signs are not posted. Be alert and make sure that you are actually turning in a safe environment where the practice is now acceptable.
According to Chief of Police Rahinsky the law was being sporadically enforced. The city law was running counter to state law so now the two match. City Administrator Eric Stuckey said, “If completed safely, U-turns can be a viable option for drivers.”
