National Speaker Shares Harrowing Life or Death Situation in Spring Hill

The City of Spring Hill is inviting you to an upcoming safety training presentation, “A Culture of Safety: It’s a Matter of Life or Death” from 9-11 a.m. May 24 at Northfield Workforce Development and Conference Center, 5000 Northfield Lane, Door 100, in Spring Hill.

The City will host national speaker Eric Giguere, who will detail his harrowing and dramatic experience as a water distribution laborer who survived a catastrophic trench collapse. As he was laying waterline, the sides of the trench collapsed, burying him alive. He will talk about the time he spent buried, the efforts to dig him out with a backhoe, and so much more, with a focus on preventing these types of accidents and covering workers’ compensation risk.

The presentation is not just for those who work in literal trenches, but for all employees, as we all experience various dangerous circumstances in which safety precautions are necessary. The Tennessee Municipal League (TML-The Pool) is serving as a financial support for this event, and we encourage both City employees and the public to attend. Coffee and doughnuts, etc., will be available. The event is free and open to the public.

To attend, please RSVP to [email protected] or call 800-624-9698. City employees planning to attend should sign up with their respective department heads and RSVP to [email protected].
