Nashville Retailers Partner with Steeplechase for Unique Shopping Events

Steeplechase

With less than one month until race day, the Iroquois Steeplechase has partnered with several upscale Nashville retailers to host some pre-race shopping events.

From suits and dresses to jewelry and — of course — hats, participating retailers will offer necessities to outfit the entire family for Nashville’s Rite of Spring, which will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Percy Warner Park.

In addition to giveaways and light refreshments, several of the stores will give customers the opportunity to “shop for a cause” by donating a portion of their events’ proceeds to the Iroquois Steeplechase, which will help support the nonprofit’s primary beneficiary, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Here are some upcoming must-not-miss shopping events:

Christine A. Moore Millinery Trunk Show at Gus Mayer, 2113 Green Hills Village Dr, Nashville TN 37215

Christine A. Moore Millinery — the Official Milliner of the Iroquois Steeplechase — designs, crafts and sells women’s and men’s hats and headwear, made in the NYC studio. Designs are in line with the current trends, while staying with a classic, elegant and timeless design concept. Moore will be at Gus Mayer, along with her collection of hats and fascinators, a few days before the event to help last-minute shoppers coordinate a fabulous race day look.

This iconic sporting event has been Nashville’s Rite of Spring since 1941, attracting more than 25,000 spectators to watch the best horses and riders in the world race over hurdles on a three-mile turf track. Held the second Saturday of each May at Percy Warner Park, the Iroquois Steeplechase is Music City’s annual celebration of time-honored traditions, Tennessee hospitality and Southern fashions.

Those who attend enjoy areas for families, well-appointed tents and individually organized tailgates where the emphasis is on race day pickings, larger-than-life hats, specialty drinks by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and crowd-pleasing recipes. More importantly, guests support a cause at the heart of the event: Since being designated as the official charity in 1981, Iroquois Steeplechase has raised more than $10 million in support of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
