Back on Sept. 8 of 2016 the Predators named Mike Fisher captain, but with No. 12 retiring from the NHL this summer Nashville has had to go through the same decision making process for the second straight offseason.
Exactly one year and 11 days after naming Fisher captain, the Predators named Roman Josi the eighth captain in franchise history during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. Defenseman Ryan Ellis was also named the team’s associate captain, while Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg and Mattias Ekholm will all serve as alternate captains.
Josi will wear the ‘C’ while Ellis will permanently wear an ‘A’ while Johansen, Ekholm and Forsberg will rotate the other ‘A’ available.
