The 65th Annual Nashville Christmas parade will continue as planned Saturday morning but with a new Grand Marshall.

Kid Rock was initially named Grand Marshall for the parade. After a statement Kid Rock made on Fox & Friends Friday morning about Joy Behar, parade officials chose another Grand Marshall.

Organizers asked James Shaw Jr., the Waffle House Hero, to be the Grand Marshall for the parade, reported Fox 17.

Regarding weather predictions for tomorrow morning, a message was posted on the parade website.

The Nashville Christmas Parade will go ahead rain or shine! All participants should arrive as scheduled on the morning of the parade and should be prepared to walk/ride in the rain, this means bringing along rain gear.

The event will only be cancelled or postponed in the event of thunder and lighting or other extreme weather conditions. Any decisions related to the postponement or cancellation of the event due to weather will be in coordination with our public safety partner and the Nashville Office of Emergency Management.

The Nashville Christmas Parade team will attempt to keep all riders up to date on the plans for the day, according to the weather forecast. The schedule may be altered, due to inclement weather.

The parade kicks off the holiday season in downtown Nashville Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 8:30 a.  WKRN-TV will provide live coverage, and Timeless Syndication will make the parade available for TV stations and other outlets across the country through the holiday season.

Performers for the parade include Jason Crabb joins along with LeAnn Rimes, Craig Wayne Boyd, Bill Anderson, Diana DeGarmo, Mark Schultz, Janice Gaines, and more.

Since 1927, the Nashville Christmas Parade has been a staple of Middle Tennessee’s holiday festivities and this year promises to be a year to remember – full of music, giant inflatable balloons, custom floats and more.

The event will support Children’s Hospital. As a nonprofit organization, Children’s Hospital provides pediatric specialty care to all children, regardless of the family’s ability to pay. With a four-floor expansion now underway, Children’s Hospital will be able to care for even more young patients in the region and beyond.

The parade also will support Piedmont’s Share the Warmth, an energy-assistance program that helps local low-income families pay their energy bills at any point during the year, regardless of the energy source used in the home.
